Frequently asked questions
Can a foreigner own a company in Bulgaria?
Yes. EU and non-EU citizens can register an EOOD (single-member limited company) or OOD. You need a registered office address in Bulgaria, a manager and a bank account for the capital. Documents can often be signed remotely with a qualified e-signature or through a notarised power of attorney — for non-EU documents an apostille may be required.
Does owning a Bulgarian company make me tax resident in Bulgaria?
Not by itself. Personal tax residence depends on where you live and where your centre of vital interests is — spending more than 183 days in Bulgaria in a 12-month period is one of the tests. We coordinate with your adviser at home to avoid double taxation.
Do you communicate in English?
Yes — emails, calls, monthly reports and explanations of Bulgarian rules are all in English.
What does it cost to run an EOOD?
Ongoing costs are mainly monthly bookkeeping, the annual tax return and financial statements, and any payroll. Our fee depends on your activity and volume — request a quote.
Is 10% really the corporate tax rate?
Yes. Bulgaria has a 10% flat corporate income tax and 5% withholding tax on dividends paid to individuals, one of the lowest combinations in the EU. VAT is 20% once you are registered.
